Every time you open a DAW and start from an empty session, you pay a tax. It takes roughly 15–25 minutes to rebuild your routing: buss structure, sends, aux returns, color coding, track naming conventions, default instrument chains, metering inserts, monitoring setup. That is time you will never get back, and it happens before a single note is played.

Across a 50-song project over six months, starting blank costs roughly 17 hours — nearly half a work week. That is time you could have spent on arrangement, production, or listening critically. Instead, you spent it clicking "Create New Track" and naming it "Kick" for the eight hundredth time.
Why Producers Resist Templates
There are three objections that come up every time:
- "Every song is different." — Yes, and your routing infrastructure is exactly the same. The point of a template is not the arrangement; it is the pipeline.

That is it. No arrangement. No locked-in sounds. Just infrastructure.
